Lesser Spotted Dogfish

This photograph of a Lesser Spotted Dogfish won Best British Photograph at the British Underwater Image Festival 2007.
It was taken on 12th May 2006 in the shallows near Selsey Pier, Sussex, UK. Coming to the end of a 100 minute dive with a strong current building up, I spotted this dogfish in a superb position for photography. My dive buddies, Chris Baker and Graeme 'Spotty' Hastings exited the water as I quickly took some shots, the strengthening current threatening to sweep me away.
This was one of my last dives with my Olympus C5060 compact camera. It was set at a focal length of 8mm on a manual exposure programme with two Inon D-180 strobes on manual settings. ISO 100, Aperture F4.8 and Shutter Speed 1/125th.
