Pike13 d1586

This shot of a pike was runner-up in the British photographs competition at the British Underwater Image Festival 2009.
It was taken at a depth of about 3 to 4 metres in Leybourne Lake near Maidstone, Kent UK on 5th December 2008. With a water temperature of 5 degrees, no other divers were in the lake and the pike seemed rather lonely! It even nuzzled my Subal domeport.
I used my Nikon D200 digital SLR with a 10-17mm Tokina lens at a focal length of 10mm on manual setting and two Inon Z-240 strobes on very low manual settings. ISO 140, aperture F5.6, shutter speed 1/80th, Exposure Compensation +0.3 step.
