In September 2019 I dived Martin Islet near Wollongong, Martin Islet being a small island lying just off Red Point.

Australian fur seals are the largest of all the fur seals and in common with all seals are tremendous fun to dive with. Normally there are between twenty to eighty of them either on the island or in the surrounding water.

Sydney’s Abyss Scuba Diving run regular boat diving trips to Martin Islet, and I had signed up for three back-to-back dives. Without question Abyss are a very well-run dive company, full of innovative ideas. Martin Fallon, skipper of Sea Dragon II, is really helpful and friendly, Patty Minton, our dive guide was quite inspirational and helped make my day really enjoyable. The underwater visibility was a bit disappointing, especially on the first dive but Martin and Patty ensured our second and third dives were in the clearest water available and our enthusiastic hosts were like playful puppies, bringing happy smiles to all the divers. A fabulous day.
