In December 2009 I returned to South West Rocks, this time with Mick Todd and this time diving with Fish Rock Dive Centre. Naturally we were there to dive Fish Rock, a large rock which projects up out of the ocean roughly 3 kilometres from the shore and which is renowned for the large cave that runs through it.
The water was green and the visibility on our four dives was poor. Thanks to small tears on the inside skirt of my dive mask, I had to continually clear the mask - at times the trickle became stronger, my mask filling more quickly than I could clear it. At one point several very large Wobblegong Sharks lay around me at the entrance to Fish Rock cave and began moving around between our legs, just as my mask again began leaking badly. Fortunately for me, Mick was alert to the risk and made sure, with my vision obscured, that I did not accidentally bump into one. So Mick does care about me after all!
