On a late May Bank Holiday weekend, my son David and I stayed in Swanage. And that gave me the chance to spend a very relaxed Sunday under the pier with the “Spider Crab Gang”.

Although it was a wonderfully sunny day the sea temperature was only 13 degrees and as I intended to spend up to 4 hours underwater, I was pleased I had packed my drysuit. I used my Tokina 10-17mm lens for my first two dives and my 60mm lens for a third, Spider Crab Gang members Gill McDonald and Joss Woolf accompanying me on my second and third dives. Fish highlights included a Cuttlefish, a Sea Scorpion and Yellow Triplefin Blennies. Afterwards it was time for the Spider Crab Gang BBQ!
