In late June 2007 I returned to Falmouth with Ashford Dive Club for five days diving having first spent two days in St Ives. Throughout the week the weather was truly awful with strong winds, driving rain and chilly air temperatures. Our ADC group in Falmouth consisted of Rick and I, Paul Hymers, Sharon Meadows, Owen Hadley, Mike Cook and Phil Jarvis with Graeme "Spotty" Hastings joining us for two shore dives. Our dive boat out of Falmouth was the excellent Cornish Pussy, skippered by Gary Fox. We dived the wrecks of the Epsilon, Hera, SS N.G. Peterson and Rock Island Bridge and also did three shore dives: Lamorna Cove, Drawna Rocks and Porthoustock Bay.

Anticipating water temperatures of 16-17° I intended wearing my semi-dry wetsuit throughout the holiday but took my drysuit as well as a precaution. I was pleased I had as the sea water temperature slowly fell throughout the week to just 12°. By the beginning of our penultimate day of diving our group was so demoralised by the bad weather that all but Rick, Phil and I had aborted the holiday and returned home. After yet another miserable day in Cornwall during which Rick, Phil and I managed just one shore dive, we reluctantly packed our bags and left Cornwall a day earlier than planned.
