On 31st July 2005 I travelled to Sussex. Ashford Dive Club had organised a days diving with Wittering Divers in East Wittering, West Sussex and Graeme "Spotty" Hastings, Dee Smith and I met up with other club members for two dives. We set up our kit as soon as we arrived and were soon aboard Ballistic, our R.I.B. for the day.

The first dive site was Far Mulberrys. My ADC buddy was Sue Stevenson who I had not dived with Sue before but I quickly realised that she is an experienced and highly competent diver. Fish highlights of this dive included blennies, wrasse, bass, cod and Sue spotted a free swimming conger eel. Unfortunately I did not! The visibility underwater was 8 metres.

After returning to the shore for an extended surface interval, our second dive was at Bracklesham Bay Fossil Beds. The R.I.B. ride to the dive site was a bit "lumpy" and I cruelly took photos of Svenja (Hickson) and Dee getting rather wet. This was intended as a drift dive but the current proved to be mild. At the commencement of the dive, to the bemusement of Alex, our R.I.B. skipper, our groups Surface Marker Buoys moved off to all points of the compass. The visibility on this dive was 2 metres and fish highlights were two common lobsters, gobies, wrasse, bass, cod and a flatfish.

A highly enjoyable day out.
